Three fascinations of PAC
The Orchestra, led by forward-looking Artistic Director, Yutaka Sado, proclaims the dawn of a new era of classical music.
The PAC Orchestra is a realization of a future vision which the world-renowned conductor, Yutaka Sado, has long dreamed about. “I feel that I have more responsibility toward the world of music for the coming 100 years than the past 100 years,” Mr. Sado enthuses. After he inaugurated the PAC Orchestra as Artistic Director, spirited young musicians began to gather around the forward-looking conductor. The PAC Orchestra hopes that it can help remove the image people might have of classical music as overly stiff, awkward and lofty. Audiences are sure to be enchanted by the variety of programs the PAC Orchestra prepares and presents. Newcomers to classical music will remember their first encounter with the music at the Center, while sophisticated classical music fans will discover new satisfaction with the music they love. The music of the PAC Orchestra nourishes the mind and soul of listeners, not only for special occasions but in ordinary life.
The PAC Orchestra presents a galaxy of brilliant young musicians selected through very competitive worldwide auditions.
Half of the PAC Orchestra members are from overseas. They are promising young musicians selected through very competitive auditions held in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Berlin, London, Vienna and Paris. There are also Japanese members who were studying or performing outside of Japan when they became enthralled by Mr. Sado’s concept and decided to apply for auditions. Thus was the world’s freshest and most international orchestra born in Hyogo Prefecture.
Vigorous young musicians demonstrating fresh modes of expression and a spirit of challenge.
The PAC Orchestra consists mainly of members in their 20s and 30s. Some of the musicians are recent graduates from conservatories who decided to challenge the demanding auditions. The benefits these young musicians gain through participation in this program include an overall improvement in their musical skills, as well as professional experience with a variety of performing situations, including chamber music, orchestral performance and opera. Equally important, their experiences help to solidify their identity as performing artists. As these musicians continue to evolve, their growth and progress during public performances may sometimes be clearly perceived by the listeners. Indeed, one of the unique aspects of the PAC Orchestra is that it is blessed with a large local audience which anticipates and encourages the development of these young artists.
